Initial Sketches
To create my collection I first brainstormed with different sketches to get my ideas going. I experimented with different silhouettes, different techniques, and different fabrics. I have created a handful of ideas. All of these were hand drawn on my iPad using procreate.
For these looks I looked at inspiration from Vivienne Westwood, the 'Birth of Venus' painting, and popular tends today like using silk and creating slip dresses or using corsets. I also added a small color palette with colors that I plan to experiment using when creating my looks.
This was the first I deal that I had, I had the idea to create a gold detailing at the top or pearls.
I really wanted to incorporate a slip dress. apart from it being extremely trending at the moment, I feel like it is the perfect feminine piece fir this collection.
this dress was inspired from looking at past dresses from Vivienne Westwood. I wanted to emcorporated a dress containing a corset. This also is inspired by the traditional renaissance theme of wearing gowns.
I wanted to experiment with making a top inspired by the seashell in the birth if Venus. I wanted to use a corset top, with fabric and folding an effect could be created that resembles a seashell so this will be the top half. not sure if I will be using the flare at the bottom of the top but I feel like this is a great addiction to the collection as it protrays a symbol from the painting.
This look is a bit more casual but still chic and I feel it would be nice in a completely pink tone or a floral pattern.
