Initial Research: Renaissance influence on Contemporary fashion

The Renaissance era had a great influence on contemporary fashion and the current fashion trends today. 

An example if how the Renaissance influenced fashion is the use of rich, luxurious fabrics such as velvet, silk, and brocade, which were favored during the Renaissance and are still associated with elegance today. 

Art was extremely important throughout the Renaissance for expressing beauty and spreading ideas. Incredible works of art were produced by artists like Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. Many designers today pay homage to the aesthetic legacy of the time by incorporating iconic works of art into their clothing, an example here.

In addition to ways designers get inspired by the renaissance, there is also an inspiration from the silhouettes. The iconic corset made its debut in women's fashion, emphasising an hourglass form and a narrow waist. The waist-cinching style is still popular in formal clothing today because of its timeless elegance. This silhouette has continued throughout history in different forms. Additionally, the Renaissance made it fashionable to utilise magnificent silks, and this pricey material is still admired for its beautiful sheen and drape, making it a key component of modern haute couture.

A greater appreciation for craftsmanship and attention to detail were traits of the Renaissance era. Craftspeople improved their abilities and produced gorgeous clothing embellished with skilled beading, lacework, and embroidery. This commitment to workmanship is still respected in today's fashion, as designers frequently work with knowledgeable craftspeople to produce one-of-a-kind items. The tiny hand-sewn details, beautiful embroidery, and rich embellishments seen on contemporary haute couture runways are clear examples of the Renaissance history of careful craftsmanship.
