Research on Trends

For my major project my main target audience is haute couture for Gen- Z.

Since I want to target Gen Z I will research the current trends for Spring/Summer 2023.

For research I used an article from British vogue. 

Certain trends that stood out to me were pillow talk, surface value, different angles, and say yes to the goddess. 

This trend consists of sheer and lace fabrics. Evening and nightgowns with a lot of corsetry. It also consists with a bit of fabric manipulation like draping. 

Another popular trend is creating texture with the look and adding embellishments or other aspects to create a more exciting look and a more textured surface. This could be fabric, feathers, fur, pompoms, or even sequins. 

Creating a whole new shape to a dress by adding random asymmetrical cuts. Also hollow holes onto the garments. It could also be a subtle slit to expose more of the legs. 

This trend involves very feminine and sexy gowns. Involves a lot of draping and and involves both concealing and revealing the body. Very sheer sexy fabrics like chiffon, also a good look with velvet. 

Exaggerated hips when it come to couture looks has come back on trend. This adds a sense of drama to the look and a lot of enthusiasm.
